Pat Binder

Born in 1960 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Studies in Visual Arts and Art Education in Buenos Aires and Vancouver (Canada). Residencies in Germany, Great Britain and Switzerland.
Lives as a visual artist in Berlin.
Participated, a. o. exhibitions, in the Biennial of Havana in 1994 and 1997, the selection of the Ludwig-Forum Aachen and House of World Cultures Berlin in 1995. Most important solo show was at the ifa-Galerie Berlin in 1996.
In 1996, she initiates and developes, together with G. Haupt, the Internet project Universes in Universe.
1997, winner of the public art competition in honor to Käthe Kollwitz in Berlin. See Foto/Graphik Galerie Käthe Kollwitz and her own presentation.
1998 Fellowship from the Women Research Program of the Berlin's Senate to study the historical, socio-cultural context, and lyrical documents of women at the Ravensbrueck concentration camp, in preparation for an Internet art project.
1999 Fellowship from The Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science and Technology (Canada) for the development of the Internet-Project »Voices from Ravensbrueck«.

Dr. Gerhard Haupt

Born in 1952; doctorate in Art History; 1975-78 investigative studies on the art of Mexico, from then on, specialized in contemporary art of Latin America.
Freelance curator and art critic, Member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics).
Catalogue texts, lectures, radio broadcasting contributions and articles, curator and collaborator of exhibitions of contemporary art. Numerous research residencies in Latin America .
1995 concept and organization of the symposium »The Marco Polo Syndrome - Problems of the Intercultural Communication in the Art Theory and Curatorial Practice«, House of World Cultures, Berlin.
Since 1996, together with Pat Binder, concept, development and organization of Universes in Universe, an information and communication system for the contemporary arts from Africa, the Americas and Asia/Pacific.
1998/1999 concept and direction of the Internet Forum »Cultural Exchange via Internet - Opportunities and Strategies«, in collaboration with the House of World Cultures, Berlin
